"Friday Night Lights"

The first review I read about "Friday Night Lights" was a review of the show's pilot  by Virginia Heffernan. I enjoyed this review because of the descriptive language that was used. My favorite example of this was when Heffernan wrote, "It’s the whir of a surgeon’s saw splitting open a football helmet. The sound is at once terrible to the ear — like a nose breaking or a girlfriend sobbing — and clean and competent: at this hospital in Dillon, Tex., the E.M.T.’s evidently know how to steady a bone saw to split open a helmet, carefully but unsentimentally, so as not to exacerbate a skull fracture or a spine injury."As a huge fan of the show, the visual I received from reading this was spot on and reminded me how good this show is.

I also enjoyed how she ended the piece comparing talking about NBC could "win a state championship" from this show. I thought that was very clever writing comparing winning in football to winning on television.

The next review I read was a season three review by Linda Stasi of The New York Post.  This review was more of a summary of what to expect in the season and also touched on how good the show is.  The writing was very simple and easy to consume, but I would have preferred more descriptive writing that would have allowed me to feel more connected and intrigued with the show. Overall, I enjoyed this review because of the good details it included about what has and will take place in season three.
