Gravity Falls
-Created by Alex Hirsch
On Disney Channel/Disney X.D.
Gravity Falls tells the story of Dipper and Mabel Pines, twin 12 year olds sent to live in a town in Oregon called "Gravity Falls, with their Grunkle (Great-Uncle) Stan, in his tourist trap "The Mystery Shack" filled with fake oddities. But the town is riddled with mysteries including gnomes, sea monsters, and inter dimensional beings that not many people seem to notice.
Brian Lowry- Variety
Brian Lowry comes from the part of a reviewer who knows that the people who will be ready his article are adults who want to know about the show for their children's sake. Early on he compares the show to X-Files meeting Scooby-Doo, and stating that the show is meant for an older audience. He also brings up the difference in tone of the show compared to the rest of Disney's "safety net" shows, this show creates a scarier sense of adventure with little/no adult supervision.
Brice Williams- Agents of Geek
Brice Williams specifically discusses the 4th episode of season 2 "Sock Opera". Brice discusses the deeper elements of the show, the strong characters and the control of tone within the show. This specific episode had a great sense of humor (the plot being lovesick Mabel trying to impress a puppeteer) along with a huge sense of danger (the show's "Big Bad" Bill Cipher taking over Dipper's body in order to wreak havoc). He surprisingly talks little about the episode itself but moreso how the episode showcases the amazing writer staff and characters.
Alasdair Wilkins- AV Club
Aladair Wilkins speaks on a much less formal level about the episode "Sock Opera". He once again praises the show's abilty to portray real relationships, citing past episodes and the growing positive relationships between the boy and girl twins, which usually get a bum wrap in television writings. The characters bicker in a real way, but it is never for the sake of fighting, and the two always rememebr how much hey care for oneanother. My personal favorite part of the review is Alasdair's choice of random out of context quotes for the episode.
